Walker, Joseph Henry

manufacturer, state legislator, congressman, author, was born Dec. 21, 1829, in Boston, Mass. He was elected a trustee of the People's Savings bank of Worcester, Mass., in 1866. He was several years a member and was elected president of the common council of Worcester, and was president of the Worcester board of trade for several years. He was three times elected to the Massachusetts legislature.

He has been for a quarter of a century president of the board of trustees of Worcester academy, an important college preparatory and scientific school for boys. He was elected to the fifty-first, fifty-second, fifty-third, fifty-fourth and fifty-fifth congresses as a republican. He is the author of A Few Facts and Suggestions on Money, Trade and Banking.
