Wadsworth, Peleg

soldier, merchant, surveyor, state legislator, congressman, was born May 6, 1748, in Duxbury, Mass. He joined the army as captain of a company of minute men, and rose to the rank of brigadier-general after the war.

In 1792 he was elected a senator in the legislature of Massachusetts; in the same year was chosen the first representative in congress from his district; and was successively re-elected until 1806, when he declined a further nomination. He died Nov. 18, 1829, in Hiram, Maine.
