Stone, Asahel
state senator, was born June 29, 1817, in Washington county, Ohio. In 1862 he was appointed quartermaster-general of the state, and was stationed at Indianapolis. In 1847 he was elected a member of the Indiana legislature on the whig ticket, defeating the democratic and anti-slavery candidate.
In 1860 he was elected to the state senate by a large majority, and also served as senator during the extra sessions called by Governor Morton in 1861. He was a member of the house in 1873. in of
