Sheedy, Morgan M
priest, writer, was born Oct. 8, 1853, in Ireland. He was ordained in the Pittsburg cathedral in 1876. He was immediately assigned as professor of theology and history in Saint Michael's seminary, where he continued until the closing of that institution. As successful pastor he became widely known through his work on educational lines with young men. In Pittsburg a the school, hall and free library that he established were centers of the very best influence felt in the whole community.
He was the founder of the Pittsburg Polytechnic society and is a member of the Writers' club, the Academy of Science, the Western Pennsylvania Historical society, and other literary bodies. He has always been one of the leaders in the temperance movement and for four years was the vice-president of the Catholic Total Abstinence union of America. He is the author of Christian Unity; and of a work entitled Social Problems.
