Schley, William
lawyer, jurist, state legislator, congressman, governor, author, was born Dec. 15, 1786, in Frederick, Md. In 1825 he was elected a judge of the superior court of the middle district of Georgia, and was elected to the state legislature in 1830. He was a representative in congress from Georgia from 1833 to 1835; and during the two succeeding years was governor of Georgia. He published a Digest of the English Statutes. At the time of his death he was president of the Medical college of Georgia. He died Nov. 20, 1858, in Augusta, Ga.
