Roth, Theophilus B
educator, clergyman, journalist, was born Feb. 9, 1.853, in Prospect, Pa. In 1893 he became president of Thiel college of Greencastle, Pa. He is the founder and editor of the Young Lutheran, which has the largest circulation of all English Lutheran papers.
ROTHERMEL, PETER FREDERICK, artist, was born July 18, 1817, in Nescopack, Pa. He was elected a member of the Pennsylvania academy, of which institution he had been director from 1847 to 1855. His best works are: De Soto Discovering the Mississippi; Embarkation of Columbus, in the Pennsylvania academy; Christian Martyrs in the Colisseum; a series of paintings illustrative of William H. Prescott's History of the Conquest of Mexico.
