Robertson, George

lawyer, jurist, educator, state legislator, was born Nov. 18, 1790, in Mercer county, Ky. In 1816 he was elected a representative in congress, and served from 1817 to 1821. He was a member of the legislature, and speaker of the house during four sessions, ending in 1827. In 1828 he was secretary of state, and the same year was chosen judge of the court of appeals. In 1829 he was commissioned chief justice of Kentucky. He was professor of law in Transylvania university for twenty-three years. He died May 17, 1874, in Lexington.
