Ridgely, Edwin Reed

soldier, merchant, congressman, was born May 9, 1844, in Crawford county, Kan. In the early seventies he engaged in the Texas cattle trade, personally sharing in and directing the gathering of cattle on the range and driving them to the Kansas markets. Subsequently he extended his cattle operations to the Pacific coast, including Washington territory, Oregon and California. He lived in Ogden, Utah, from 1889 to 1893. He was nominated by the people's and democratic parties and elected to the fifty-fifth congress.
