Osborn, Thomas A
lawyer, state senator, governor, was born Oct. 26, 1836, in Meadville, Pa. He practiced law in Pontiac, Mich.; and was elected county attorney of Doniphan county in 1858. He was elected state senator in 1859; and in 1862 became president of the senate. The same year he was elected lieutenant-governor of the state. He was United States marshal from 1864 to 1866; and was elected governor of Kansas in 1872 and re-elected in 1874. He was United States minister to Chili from 1877 to 1881; and in 1881 was promoted to the post of United States minister to Brazil. was
