Ordway, Nehemiah G
merchant, state senator, governor, was born Nov. 10, 1828, in Warner, N. H. In 1861 he was appointed general agent of the post office department for the New England states, with headquarters at Boston. In 1863 he was elected sergeant-at-arms of the United States house of representatives, and served during the thirty-eighth, thirtyninth, fortieth, forty-first, forty-second and forty-third congresses. In 1875 he was elected a representative in the New Hampshire legislature, and was re-elected in 1876 and 1877. In 1879 he was elected a state senator, and in 1880 was appointed governor of Dakota territory for the term of four years.
