Nye, James Warren

lawyer, United States senator, was born June 10, 1814, in De Ruyter, N. Y. In 1861 he was. appointed governor of Nevada territory, in which position he continued until the adoption of the state constitution, when he was chosen a senator in congress from. the new state for the term commencing in 1865 and ending in 1867. In 1867 he was re-elected to the senate for the term ending in 1873. He died Dec. 25, 1876, in White Plains, N. Y.
