Norcross, Amasa

lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born Jan. 26, 1824, in Rindge, N. H. He was a member of the Massachusetts house of representatives in 1858, 1859 and 1862; was assessor of internal revenue from 1862 to 1873, and was mayor of Fitchburg in 1873 and 1874. He was a state senator in 1874; and was elected a representative from Massachusetts to the forty-fifth, forty-sixth and forty-seventh congresses as a republican.

He is president of the Fitchburg Mutual Fire Insurance company and other institutions,
