Near, Irvin W

lawyer, was born Jan. 26, 1835, in Alexandria, N. Y. He attended the Orleans academy, the Falley seminary, and the college of Montreal.

He was admitted to the bar in 1858; has been district attorney of Steuben county, N. Y.; and has attained prominence as one of the leading lawyers of his state at Hornellsville. He has served with distinction as mayor of his city; has been commissioner of land titles; secretary of the New York and Pennsylvania Railroad company; and also secretary of the Rochester, Hornellsville and Lackawanna Railread company.
