Lyttle, William Haines
soldier, poet, was born Nov. 2, 1826, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a general in the federal army during the civil war, remembered in literature for the poem beginning, I am Dying, Egypt, Dying. He died Sept. 20, 1863; was killed in the battle of Chickamauga.
LYTTLETON, WILLIAM HENRY, governor, was born about 1720, in England. In 1755 he was appointed governor of South Carolina, and held the post till 1760, when he was transferred to Jamaica.
He died Sept. 1, 1808.
