soldier, lawyer, congressman, was born in 1819, in Hardinsburg, Ky. When the rebellion broke out in 1861 he took an active part in military affairs, and was appointed a brigadier-general. In 1862 he was elected a representative from Missouri to the thirtyeighth congress. He was re-elected to the thirty-ninth and fortieth congresses.
LOCHMAN, AUGUSTUS HERMAN, clergyman, author, was born Oct. 5, 1802, in Lebanon, Pa. He became pastor of the Lutheran church at Harrisburg, Pa., which he served for forty-four years. He has translated several volumes from the German, which have been published by the Lutheran board of publication in its Fatherland series.
