Linton, William Seelye

manufacturer, congressman, was born Feb. 4, 1856, in St. Clair, Mich. In 1883 he was elected a member of the East Saginaw common council, serving two terms, at the end of which was elected a representative to the Michigan legislature of 1887-88. He was for three years president of the People's Building and Loan association of Saginaw county, the strongest financially and in membership of any in the state.

In 1890 he was the candidate for lieutenant-governor on the republican state ticket. He has been president of the Saginaw water board; was mayor of the city of Saginaw for two years, 1892-94; and was elected to the fifty-third, and reelected to the fifty-fourth congress as a republican.
