Lawrance, William V
lawyer, author, poet, was born Nov. 10, 1834, in Greene county, Ohio. After receiving a liberal education he was admitted to the bar in 1860. The following year he enlisted as a private soldier in the union army and served until the close of the war. In 1865 he began the practice of his profession in Waverly, Ohio; and three years later settled permanently in Chillicothe. For several years he was assistant quartermaster-general of the department of the Ohio Grand Army of the Republic. He is a successful lawyer and author of two volumes of verse entitled Ellina; and The Story of Judith; and he is also the author of several prose works.
