Kneeland, Samuel

naturalist, surgeon, author, was born Aug. 1, 1821, in Boston, Mass. He was a naturalist and surgeon of Boston, and the author of Science and Mechanism; An American in Iceland; The Wonders of the Yo Semite; and Volcanoes and Earthquakes. He died in 1888.

KNEELAND, STILLMAN FOSTER, lawyer, artist, author, was born May 17, 1845, in Quebec. In 1872 he moved to New York, and he now occupies the first rank among commercial lawyers. He is the author of a Treatise on Commercial Law; and past vice-president of the department of painting of the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences.
