Kelley, William Darragh

lawyer, congressman, author, was born April 12, 1814, in Philadelphia, Pa. He held the office of judge of the court of common pleas in Philadelphia for some years. He was elected a representative from Pennsylvania to the thirty-seventh, thirtyeighth, thirty-ninth, fortieth, forty-first, forty-second, forty-third, forty-fourth, forty-fifth, forty-sixth, forty-seventh, forty-eighth, forty-ninth and fiftieth congresses as a republican. He was the author of Speeches, Addresses, and Letters on Political Questions; Letters from Europe; Lincoln and Stanton; and The Old South and The New. He died Jan. 9, 1890, in Washington, D. C.
