Ingraham, Joseph Holt

clergyman, author, was born in 1809, in Portland, Maine. He was an episcopal clergyman of Holly Springs, Miss. He was the author of Lafitte: the Pirate of the Gulf; Captain Kyd; and The Dancing Feather.

The Southwest, by a Yankee, was another work of this period. He entered the episcopal ministry in 1855, and afterward wrote three religious romances as popular as the others, and almost as valueless. They are, The Prince of the House of David; The Pillar of Fire; and The Throne of David. He died December, 1860, in Holly Springs, Miss.
