Hutson, Richard
congressman, was born June 12, 1747, in Prince Williams Parish, S.. He was a delegate from South Carolina to the continental congress from 1778 to 1779; and was one of the signers of the articles of confederation. He died in 1793, in Philadelphia, Pa.
HUTTON, AURELIUS WINFIELD, lawyer, jurist, was born July 23, 1847, in Greene county, Ala. After receiving a liberal education he became a cadet in the university of Alabama. He then studied law, and graduated from the law department of the university of Virginia in 1868, with the degree of B. L. In 1869 he was admitted to the bar, and settled in Los Angeles, Cal., where he has attained prominence as one of the leading lawyers of that state. In 1872 he was elected city attorney, and received the reelection two years later. In 1887-88 he became superior judge of Los Angeles county; and in 1889 was appointed United States attorney. President Harrison appointed him special counsel of the United States in the cases for violation of the neutrality laws of the United States against the Itata in 1891.
