Hunton, Eppa
soldier, lawyer, congressman, was born Sept. 23, 1823, in Fauquier county, Va. He was state attorney for the county of Prince William, Va., from 1849 to 1862; and was elected to the state convention in 1861. He entered the confederate army as colonel of the eighth Virginia infantry; was promoted after the battle of Gettysburg; served through the war as brigadier-general. He was elected to the forty-third, forty-fourth, forty-fifth and forty-sixth congresses; and in 1892-95 served in the United States senate to fill a vacancy.
