Hudson, Joseph Kennedy

soldier, journalist, state legislator, was born May 4, 1840, in Virginia. He served in the civil war and attained the rank of major. He is president of the Capital company, and editor-in-chief of the paper. In 1871 he was a member of the house of representatives from the thirty-seventh district. HUDSON, MRS. MARY [CLEMMER] [AMES], journalist, author, was born in 1839, in New York. She is a journalist of Washington, well known at one period by her Woman's Letters from Washington in The Independent. She is the author of Eirene; His Two Wives; Victoria (three novels); Ten Years in Washington; Men, Women, and Things; Poems of Life and Nature; and Memorials of Alice and Phœbe Cary.
