Houck, Leonidas C
soldier, lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born June 8, 1836, in Sevier county, Tenn. He served in the union army from 1861 to 1863, rising to the rank of colonel. He was a member of the state constitutional convention of 1865; and was judge of the seventeenth judicial circuit from 1866 to 1870. He then moved to Knoxville, Tenn., and was a delegate to the republican national convention of 1868. He was a presidential elector in 1872 and 1876; and was a representative in the state legislature in 1872. He was elected a representative from Tennessee to the forty-sixth, fortyseventh, forty-eighth and forty-ninth congresses.
