Hewit, Nathaniel

HEWIT, NATHANIEL AUGUSTUS, clergyman, author, was born Nov. 27, 1820, in Fairfield, Conn. He is a Roman catho- Roman catholic clergyman who, previous to 1846, was successively a congregational and episcoand episcopal clergyman. In 1858 he entered the Paulist order, taking the name of Augusof Augustine Francis, and since 1865 has been a professor in the Paulist seminary. He is the author of Reasons for Submitting to the Catholic Church; Life of Princess Borghese; Life of a Modern Martyr, - Dumoulin-Borie; Problems of the Age; the Age; The King's Highway; and Light in Darkin Darkness.
