Harris, Stephen R

educator, lawyer, congressman, was born May 22, 1824, seven miles west of Massillon, Ohio. He served as deputy United States marshal and member of the county military committee during the civil war. He was an active member of the Ohio State Bar association from its organization, serving most of the time and at present as chairman of the committee on legal biography, and was president of the association for the year ending July 20, 1894. He was elected to the fifty-fourth congress as a republican.
