first mayor of Brooklyn, was born Sept. 21, 1795, in Brooklyn, N. Y. He was a printer, and the greater portion of his life was devoted to the into the interests of his native city, of which he was a trustee at the time of its incorporation, and under that act became its first mayor.

He died Sept. 16, 1868, in Brooklyn, N. Y.

physician, surgeon, was born June 28, 1851, in Riceville, Pa. He is a successful physician of Franklin, Ind.; has held various positions of importance in his county and state , and served as chairman of the Indiana prohibition party.

Hall, Isaac Hollister

lawyer, lecturer, author, was born Dec. 12, 1837 , in Norwalk, Conn. He was a lawyer and Oriental scholar, and lecturer on New Tes- New Testament Greek in Johns Hopkins university in 1884-96. He published American Greek Testaments, a critical Bibliography. He died in 1896.

He was a presbyterian clergyman in the southern states, and the author of Narrative of a Most Extraordinary Work of Religion in North Carolina; and Missionary Tour Through the Mississippi Southwest Country. He died July 25, July 25, 1826, in Bethany, N. C.

paleontologist, educator, author, was born Sept. 12, 1811, in Hingham, Mass . He is a paleontologist of distinction, professor of geology at the Troy Polytechnic school from 1836, and state geologist of New York from 1837.

He is the author of Geology of the Fourth District of New York; Paleontology of Geological Survey of Wisconsin; and many scientific monographs.
