Funston, Edward H
soldier, farmer, congressman, was born in 1836, in Clark county, Ohio. In 1861 he entered the union army as a lieutenant, and served throughout the civil war. He was a representative in the Kansas legislature in 1873-75, and in the latter year was speaker of the house. In 1880 he was elected a state senator, and was made president of the senate pro tempore. In 1884 he was elected a representative from Kansas to the forty-eighth congress, to fill a vacancy, and was re-elected to the forty-ninth, fiftieth, fifty-first, and fiftysecond congresses as a republican.
