Fogg, George G

lawyer, diplomat, United States senator, was born May 26, 1815, in Meredith, N. H. In 1846 he was elected to the state legislature, and soon , and soon afterwards secretary of state, when he , when he became editor of the Independent Democrat. In 1861 he was appointed minister resident to Switzerland, returning in Noin November, 1865; and in 1866 was appointed a senator in congress from New Hamp- New Hampshire, to fill a vacancy. He died Oct. 5, Oct. 5, 1881, in Concord, N. H.
