Field, Matthew C

journalist, was born in 1812 in London, England. He was for several years one of the editors of the New Orleans Picayune, and contributed numerous articles in prose and verse to southern periodicals. He died in 1844, at sea.

FIELD, MAUNSELL BRADHURST, lawyer, author, was born in 1822 in New York. He was a lawyer of New York city, and in 1864 was second assistant secretary of the treasury. He was the author of Adrian (with G. P. R. James); Poems; and Memories of Many Men and Some Women, a volume of entertaining gossip.

He died Jan. 24, 1875, in New York city.
