Dodge, Henry
soldier, statesman, was born Oct. 12, 1782, in Vincennes, Ind.
He was brigadier-general of Missouri troops in 1812; and distinguished himself especially in the Black Hawk war. He was appointed governor of Wisconsin territory, and superintendent of Indian as affairs, serving such from 1836 to 1841, and from 1845 to 1848. He was a delegate to congress from Wisconsin from 1841 to 1845; and a senator in congress from the state of Wisconsin from 1848 to 1857. He died June 19, 1867, in Burlington, Iowa.
