Davis, John (Journalist congressman author)

journalist, congressman, author, was born Aug. 9, 1826, in Sangamon county, Ill. For a quarter of a century he was actively engaged in journalism, and served as a member of the fiftysecond and fiftythird congresses. He is the author of a large number of pamphlets and speeches on the monetary question and political economy; and the author of The Conquest of the Prairies by Abraham Lincoln in 1830; Sketch of Napoleon Bonaparte; and various other works, which are highly valued.
