Davenport, S. A
lawyer, jurist, was born Jan. 15, 1834, in Schuyler county, N. Y. He was elected district attorney for the county of Erie, and is now a practicing attorney.
In 1888 he was elected district delegate to the republican national convention at Chicago; and in 1892 was elected one of the delegates at large to the national republican convention at Minneapolis. He was elected to the fifty-fifth congress from the state at large by a majority of nearly three hundred thousand.
