Couch, Darius Nash
soldier, was born July 23, 1822, in South East, N. Y.
He was graduated at the United States military academy in 1846, and assigned to the fourth artillery, with which he served in the Mexican war, gaining the brevet of first lieutenant, in 1847, for gallant conduct at Buena Vista.
He served against the Seminoles in 1849-50, and in 1853, when on a leave of absence, made an exploring expedition into Mexico, which is mentioned in the United States senate reports.
