merchant, lawyer, congressman, was born July 8, 1849, in Bradford county, Pa. Since 1854 he has been a resident of Towanda, and was educated at the Susquehanna Collegiate institute. For ten years he was engaged in the hardware business; and since 1878 has been engaged in the practice of law. He has taken an active part in public affairs; and was elected to the fifty-fourth and fifty-fifth congresses as a republican. He is also one of the foremost lawyers of Pennsylvania at Towanda.
