poet, was born Dec. 25, 1833, in Ellisburgh, N. Y. She received her education in the public schools; and attended Sister school of Utica, N.

Y., where her father methodist clergyman. She is the author of the Record of a Ministering Angel, which had an extensive sale. She has written extensively in prose and poetry for the periodical press; and many of her poems have been incorporated in standard publications. She has traveled extensively in America and Europe. Since the death of her husband she has managed a large manufacturing concern at Utica, Ill. a
