Chilcott, George Miles

lawyer, legislator, United States senator, was born Jan. 2, 1828, in Huntingdon, Pa. He was elected to the territorial legislature.

In 1859 he settled in Colorado; in 1861 was elected to the legislature of that territory; in 1862 was admitted to the bar of the same; and in 1863 was appointed a register of the land office, serving four years. In 1866 he was elected a delegate from Colorado to the fortieth congress; and in 1882 was appointed a United States senator from Colorado, to fill a vacancy.

He died March 6, 1891, in St. Louis, Mo.
