Chase, Charles M
journalist, son of General E. B. Chase, was born Nov. 6, 1839, in Lyndon, Vt. During 1857-61 he was police magistrate, lawyer and editor at Sycamore, Ill.; and in 1861 was the leader of the band in the thirteenth regiment Illinois volunteer infantry. In 1865 he established The Vermont Union in Lyndon, and has ever since been its editor and owner. In 1866 and 1868 he was democratic candidate for congress; delegate to the democratic national convention in 1876. He has been a justice of the peace for twenty years in Lyndon, Vt., and president of the school board for fourteen years. Since 1892 he has been president of the Citizens' Savings Bank and Trust company.
