Aiken, D. Wyatt

soldier, legislator, congressman, was born March 17, 1828, in Winnsboro, S. C. He graduated at the South Carolina college in 1849; taught school for two years; engaged in farming; and served in the confederate army during the war of the rebellion from 1861 until disabled by wounds. He was elected a representative in the state legislature in 1864, and again in 1866. He was a delegate to the Democratic national convention of 1876; was elected a representative from South Carolina to the forty-fifth, forty-sixth, forty-seventh, forty-eighth, and forty-ninth congresses.
