Adams, Robert
geologist, state senator, congressman, was born Feb. 26, 1849, in Philadelphia, Pa. He graduated at the university of Pennsylvania in 1869; studied and practiced law for five years; was a member of the United States geological survey from 1871 to 1875, and engaged in explorations of the Yellowstone park.
He was a member of the state senate of Pennsylvania from 1883 to 1887; graduated in 1884 from the Wharton School of Economy and Finance of the university of Pennsylvania; was appointed United States minister to Brazil April 1, 1889, and resigned June 1, 1890.
He was elected to the fifty-third and fiftyfourth congresses and re-elected to the fifty-fifth congress as a republican, and served on important committees.
